Delmar man sentenced to 15 years for 2017 armed robbery

SALISBURY, Md. – A Delmar man will spend 15 years behind bars for an armed robbery he committed in late 2017.

30-year-old Patrick Vetra was sentenced on Friday, after being convicted of armed robbery and robbery earlier this year. The judge also ordered Vetra to complete three years of supervised probation with substance abuse treatment upon release.

On December 14, 2017, Vetra robbed the Corner Market in Delmar, MD. He walked into the establishment and told the clerk to give him all of the money in the register. When the clerk questioned Vetra as to whether he was serious about his statement, he lifted up his sweatshirt to show what the clerk believed to be a handgun tucked in his waistband. He then fled the store with approximately $300 from the cash register.

The Delmar Police Department conducted an investigation that included collecting DNA evidence that linked Vetra to the robbery.
