DOVER, Del. – The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) has received $75,000 dollars in grant money for a new program that’s designed to support women, minorities and people who are disadvantaged.

The grant was awarded to DelDOT’s Office of Civil Rights.

According to the DelDOT Community Relations Director C.R. McLeod, the money will go towards its new program called Today’s Reinvestment Around Industry Needs.

The program is a collaboration between public and private entities involved in infrastructure construction.

Its goal is to increase the participation of women, minorities and those who are disadvantaged in all levels of construction development.

“We really want to focus on how do we bring more women and minorities and disadvantaged individuals into the work we’re doing and give them opportunities to earn some of those contracts and help us accomplish the work for the citizens of Delaware,” said McLeod.

The new program is set to begin in October.
