Worcester Co. launches assistance grant for businesses affected by COVID-19

WORCESTER COUNTY, Md.- Worcester County is now accepting applications for a grant that will help businesses in the area affected by the coronavirus pandemic. It’s called the Workforce Back To Business COVID-19 Assistance Grant. And Worcester County will provide a $5,000, $7,500, and $10,000 grant to three businesses who’ve been hurt financially because of COVID-19. The federal funds are provided locally through the CARES Act and businesses have from July 8th until July 22nd to apply. County officials say being able to offer this type of support is critical for those who’ve been hit hard by the pandemic.

“It’s just disrupted the entire economy so it’s very important that we get as much assistance out there as possible to our small businesses. And that’s exactly what this is. It’s helping our small businesses here in Worcester County,” said Delegate Wayne Hartman, (R-District 38C).

In order to be eligible for the grant, you have to meet a number of requirements that include having a business that’s located in Worcester County, having a business that’s been operating prior to March 9th of 2020, and you must be in good standing with the State of Maryland and Worcester County. For more information on eligibility requirements, you can head to the county’s website here.
