Weather Tidbits: Severe Weather Risk

This Weather Tidbits explains the severe weather risk categories of the Storm Prediction Center. SPC forecasts risk categories 1-3 days out and they consist of 5 categories. Marginal and slight risk are the most common, with damaging winds, some large hail and an isolated tornado possible. Enhanced risk has numerous wind damage and few tornadoes. Moderate and high risk typically consist of tornado outbreaks and derecho events, with violent tornadoes, very large hail and destructive winds.
