Weather Tidbits: Growing Degree Days

Growing degree days are used by farmers as a guide to plant and determine the approximate dates of when a crop will be ready for harvesting. A growing degree day is defined when the average daily temperature is at least one degree above the base temperature (minimum temperature required for growth).
