LAUREL, Del. – On Wednesday, U.S. Senator Tom Carper discussed the work at Vincent Farms that helps provide fresh produce to thousands of families in need.

Vincent Farms recently joined the USDA’s Food Box Program, which ensures food banks and other programs have enough fruits and vegetables for the needy.

According to U.S. Senator Tom Carper, the program not only provides free food to those who’ve lost their jobs but it pays farmers as well and helps them thrive amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“One hand one washes the other and one of the things I’ve learned here is that it’s worked,” said U.S. Senator Tom Carper.

“This farmer has been around since 1978 vibrant, they’re going to continue to be in business for a long time and they’re meeting the great demand for food northeast of here and states to the northeast,” said Carper.

Vincent Farms says about 70 percent of their fresh produce in partnership with the USDA goes to New York.
