Trimper’s Rides: Ocean City Haunted House will not be closing
OCEAN CITY, Md. – Some rumors have been circulating on social media about the beloved Haunted House ride on the Ocean City boardwalk closing, but according to Trimper’s Rides, those rumors are not true.
Trimper’s took to Facebook on Tuesday and said, “Trimper’s Rides of Ocean City has no intention of ceasing operation of the Haunted House. We look forward to another 50 years of memories.”
We reached out to the ones running the Haunted House. They said they were initially under the impression their lease would not be renewed after this year, but that it turned out to be a misunderstanding. They said, “It’s great news to hear that lease negotiations are in progress to keep the ride open for years to come. The Granville Trimper family has been operating the ride since it was built in 1964 and look forward to doing so for many years to come.”
Trimper’s Rides later gave a statement to 47ABC explaining why the lease had not been discussed earlier. They said, “We have been focused on opening and staffing the park during these unprecedented times. We have not had any conversations or given any thoughts to lease negotiations with any of our tenants. The time for this is in the fall.”
