Senior centers in Delaware gearing up to reopen

DOVER, Del. – Many senior centers in Delaware are gearing up to reopen their doors.
Governor John Carney announced on Friday that senior centers are now able to operate at 30 percent capacity.
Modern Maturity Center in Dover tells 47ABC they will reopen on August 3rd, but they will be operating at 25 percent capacity.
They say senior citizens will have to make reservations for a class or activity.
They will also be required to wear a mask and follow social distancing guidelines.
According to Modern Maturity Center CEO and President Carolyn Fredericks, social isolation hasn’t been easy on many senior citizens so this change was needed.
She says she and her team are looking forward to welcoming back clients with the new safety precautions.
“It’s not the same here without our clients,” said Fredericks.
“We’re so used to listening to music and hearing laughter and everything,” said Fredericks, “It’s been very quiet, so we’re anxious to have everybody back.”
The Modern Maturity Center says they will also be checking temperatures and that all guests will be required to wear a facial mask.
