Opposition brief filed in Mountaire lawsuit

SELBYVILLE, Del. – The fight continues on behalf of a Mountaire Farms employee who filed a lawsuit months ago alleging a labor union was forcing him and coworkers to pay illegal fees.

Oscar Cruz Sosa filed that lawsuit in April against the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 27 Union. On Wednesday, the National Right to Work Foundation, who represents Cruz, filed an opposition brief after they say the union tried to prevent amicus briefs from being considered in the case. This would allow other opinions and comments to be heard in the case.

This latest move comes after Cruz submitted a petition to remove union bosses from the workplace, after Cruz alleged he and other employees had to pay dues.

47 ABC did reach out to Maountaire for comment, but we have not yet heard back.
