BETHANY BEACH, Del. – Following Governor John Carney’s announcement on Tuesday regarding a resurgence of coronavirus cases in Sussex County, Bethany Beach is making some major changes as we approach the holiday weekend.

On Thursday, Bethany Beach’s Chamber of Commerce posted on Facebook that starting tomorrow, face masks are required to be worn at all times within the Bethany Beach commercial district. This includes the boardwalk, boardwalk plaza, all dune crossovers, and anywhere in the downtown commercial areas of Bethany Beach.

Also starting tomorrow, bars in Delaware’s beach towns will have to close indefinitely as a result of the rise in COVID-19 cases.

All of this is in response to a recent rise in COVID-19 cases in the area.
