REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – A man is currently in critical condition after a boating accident on the Rehoboth Bay.

Police say on Sunday night just after 6:30, a 57-year-old man and his wife were fishing on the Rehoboth Bay. When they decided to head back to the dock, we’re told the victim jumped into the water to untangle a fishing line, but that’s when police say he realized the water was much deeper than he anticipated and the current much stronger.

A passing boat noticed the victim in distress and pulled him from the water onto their boat. The man was taken to a nearby hospital where he is currently in critical condition.

His identification is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
