SOMERSET COUNTY, Md. – In Somerset County, a center that provides children and families with critical resources is facing a number of obstacles amid the coronavirus pandemic. The Judy Center, who’s goal is to improve school readiness skills for children in the area, says it’s been pretty tough trying to help their students when they’re not able to have face to face contact with them. Officials also say the center is seeing a number of families struggling with not having the materials they need in their home in order to educate their children and get them ready for school come fall. That, along with their need for food and other resources. Which is why officials are now stepping up their efforts to make sure no one is left behind.

“Education doesn’t stop because of a pandemic and our students still need to be ready for school when they come back to school hopefully in September so our services are still very much needed,”said Early Childhood Supervisor and Judy Center Coordinator, Karen Karten.

Officials add that if you would like to help donate items that the center needs including food and even diapers you can do so by giving them a call at 410-651-1275.
