UPDATE: Cambridge commercial building fire under investigation

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – Maryland State Fire Marshals are investigating a fire that heavily damaged a commercial building in Cambridge Wednesday evening.

Officials say the fire broke out at around 5:15 p.m., at the Egide building on Washington Street. Approximately 75 firefighters from as far as Anne Arundel County and Salisbury responded to the three alarm fire, which took six hours to control.

We’re told hazmat units were also called to the scene, as there were hazardous materials involved in the fire.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation. Fire damage has been estimated at $1 million.
