Fire damages three homes in Slaughter Beach


SLAUGHTER BEACH, Del. – Delaware Fire Marshals are investigating the cause of a fire that heavily damaged a single family home and two other adjacent structures early Monday morning.

We’re told the fire broke out in the 300 block of Bay Avenue in Slaughter Beach just after 5 a.m. The Memorial Volunteer Fire Company and mutual aid fire companies responded to the scene.

State fire investigators were called to the scene to determine the fire’s origin and cause, which is still under investigation at this time. Fire damage has been estimated at $450,000.

No injuries were reported. We’re told the home was not occupied at the time of the fire, however, the adjacent structures were occupied and the occupants were able to escape unharmed.
