DOVER, Del. – The Delaware Division of Public Health has released a weekly update on coronavirus in the state.

As of 6 p.m. Thursday, there were a total of 14,202 positive cases reported in the state. A total of 6,408 cases have been reported in New Castle County, with 2,102 in Kent, and 5,508 in Sussex. At this time, 55 individuals are hospitalized, 9 of whom are critically ill.

7,936 Delawareans have made a full recovery from the virus.

We’re also told that the seven-day average positivity rate dropped from 4.9% to 4.2%.

In addition, another review has been completed of death certificate records from the Delaware Vital Events Registration System, leading epidemiologists to identify 49 additional COVID-19 deaths that occurred between early May and late June that were not reported to the Division of Public Health through standard reporting procedures. Of the 49 deaths added to the state’s total death count, 37 are classified as confirmed due to there being a positive lab result, and 12 are classified as probable.
