Delaware Office of Unclaimed Property warning of text messaging scam

DELAWARE — The Delaware Office of unclaimed Property is warning residents to be on alert for a new fraudulent text message scam in the state.

OUP director, Brenda Mayrack, says the messages invite recipients to follow a link to access the “DELAWARE unclaimed asset database.”

We’re told O-U-P never communicates with claimants or potential claimants by text. OUP says this type of message is not an authorized form of communication from the company and should be treated with extreme caution.
