Del. judiciary extends emergency, courts remain in Phase 2 of reopening

DELAWARE – On Monday, Chief Justice Collins J. Seitz Jr. signed an order extending the 30-day judicial emergency for the fourth time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Courts welcomed the public back into its facilities on June 15th, however significant safety restrictions remain in place and court operations have not yet returned to pre-COVID-19 levels. Courts are currently in Phase Two of reopening, and the Supreme Court has also resumed in-person oral arguments.

We’re told that the move to Phase Three will occur only when the facts and medical advice support the move. The full reopening plan for Delaware’s courts can be found here.
