Cowger lawsuit dismissed, but appeal on the horizon

POCOMOKE CITY, Md. – In Worcester County, former Pocomoke City Manager Bobby Cowger is not going away without a fight.
Monday a judge dismissed his lawsuit against the city, but now Cowger says he wants to appeal that ruling.
Cowger was let go by the city last year in April after the city claimed he had a lack of trust and integrity.
However, Cowger says his firing was illegal.
According to his attorney Robin Cockey, the judge dismissed the lawsuit saying the city followed their charter.
Cockey argues otherwise.
He tells 47 ABC that the city council would have had to adopt two ordinances to have his client terminated.
Instead, he says they failed to adopt either of them properly.
“He’s a man of principle and if you don’t act in a principled way Mr. Cowger is the kind of guy who’s going to call you out,” said Robin Cockey, “The town did not act in a principle way in firing him.”
“So, he’s not going to let that slide and as his attorney, I’m not going to let it slide and we’re going to take an appeal and we’re going to win,” said Cockey.
According to Attorney Robin Cockey, by next month they’ll have filed their appeal.
47ABC reached out to the City of Pocomoke for a comment, but we yet to hear back.
