ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Maryland health officials say Maryland’s daily COVID-19 positivity rate has dropped to 4.33%, with a seven-day positivity rate of 4.69%.
In total, Maryland has now conducted more than one million COVID-19 tests, with 13.3% of the state’s population being tested. Total current hospitalizations are at 533, with 143 ICU beds in use.
We’re told that more than 60% of new cases are in Marylanders under the age of 40. The positivity rate among Marylanders under 35 sits at 6.79%, which is 86% higher than the 3.65% positivity rate for Marylanders age 35 and over.
In addition, health officials are monitoring a rising positivity rate in Dorchester County, which is currently at 7.27%. It is believed that the increase may be linked to local crab picking houses, where widespread testing is underway.
