“Christmas in July” event helping raise funds for dogs at Doggone Happy Animal Rescue in Delaware

SUSSEX COUNTY, Del.- A small animal rescue organization in Sussex County is hoping to raise money this week with their “Christmas in July” event.

Doggone Happy Animal Rescue is a foster based rescue that focuses on dogs with medical issues.

During this year’s “Christmas in July” event, they are hoping to raise money for two dogs in specific, Jack and Cricket, that need that medical attention.

They are looking to raise $5,000 dollars.

We’re told due to COVID-19 they had to cancel many fundraising events.

So, they’re hoping “Christmas in July” will help make up for that.

“We can’t do our quarter auction, or any of the expos, the normal things that we’re used to doing; and the dogs need us, they don’t just stop coming in or stop being medical cases because there’s a pandemic,”Dawn Mitchell, Founder of Doggone Happy Animal Rescue, said.

We are told the rescue has a contributor that will match any donation up to $2,500 dollars.

Also, when people donate they have the opportunity to get a decal and a t-shirt.

If you would like to volunteer or donate, you can go to their website www.doggonehappyde.com.
