Assault at Rehoboth Royal Farms leads to four arrests

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – Delaware State Police arrested four suspects following an assault Tuesday night.

At around 11:45 p.m., troopers were called to the Royal Farms at 18904 Coastal highway for a report of a fight in progress. On arrival, troopers made contact with the two victims, a 19-year-old woman and 22-year-old man, who were both employees of the store. It was reported that four suspects, one of whom is the ex-boyfriend of the female victim, walked into the store and began assaulting the female. The male victim tried to intervene and stop the assault, but one of the suspects reportedly turned on him.

The male suspect then ran to a vehicle parked outside of the store and grabbed a handgun. As the male victim ran away, the suspect walked into the store with the gun, but quickly left with all the other suspects as they heard police sirens. All of the suspects got into their vehicle and fled.

The female victim was treated at a local hospital for her injuries. The male victim did not require medical attention.

The suspects were identified as 19-year-old Deshawn Potts, 30-year-old Ashley Potts, 19-year-old Ashley Davis, and a 17-year-old juvenile. All suspects turned themselves into Troop 7 and were charged.

Deshawn Potts was charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, second degree assault, riot, second degree conspiracy, criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct. He was released on a $36,000 unsecured bond.

Ashley Potts was charged with second degree assault, riot, second degree conspiracy, criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct. She was released on an $8,000 unsecured bond.

Davis was charged with second degree assault, riot, second degree conspiracy, criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct. She was released on her own recognizance.

The juvenile was also charged with second degree assault, riot, second degree conspiracy, criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct, and turned over to her guardian with a later court date.
