$720K being given to communities across Delaware impacted by COVID-19
DELAWARE- The Division of Public Health and the Healthy Communities Delaware will be collaborating with communities across the state to grant funding to populations most impacted by COVID-19.
HCD said they will provide more than $720,000 to communities across the state.
This funding will help to create food pantries, provide prevention care and resources, hire bilingual resource navigators, and replace deteriorating buildings with affordable rental units.
La Esperanza Community Center, that helps immigrants, is one of the organizations that is set to receive funding.
They said this money couldn’t come at better time.
“Since the start of the pandemic, we have been busier than ever because it revealed that there a lot of people who are living close to the edge and really need that support,” Jennifer Fuqua, Executive Director of La Esperanza, said.
We are told the HCD will be working with 12 community-based organizations to provide the funding.
Some of the other organizations receiving funding are the Food Bank of Delaware, Southeast Rural Community Assistance Project, and NCALL Inc.
