Wicomico County Libraries offering books to go

SALISBURY, Md. – While they get ready to reopen, the Wicomico County Public Library is finding new ways to get books into the hands of community members.

Starting on Tuesday, library card holders can use the library’s books to go program, which is essentially like curbside pickup.

Readers can go online or call the library to put a book on hold and then the library will notify them when the item is available for pickup.

A staff member will then place the books in a designated area where they can be picked up without ever interacting with a staff member.

Sam Gibson with the library tells 47 ABC they’ve been working hard to prepare to reopen and this is just another way to safely get books to readers.

“Since phase one opened up, we have been in the building with limited staff, and so they’ve been getting things ready, entering new materials, we’ve quarantined all the books that came through the book drops,” Gibson said.

The program is available Tuesday through Saturdays at the Downtown branch, the Centre branch, and the Pittsville branch. For pickup times at each location, you can visit the library’s website.
