Weather Tidbits: Heat Index
It’s get muggy and hot in this Weather Tidbits, as we turn towards the heat index. The heat index is the temperature of how hot it feels when combining the air temperature and relative humidity. The heat index is determined through a formula and broken down on a chart with 4 categories of heat exposure. The higher the heat index, the higher the likelihood of suffering a heat illness such as heat stroke, sunstroke and/or heat exhaustion. Also, the criteria of a heat advisory and excessive heat warning is explored on Delmarva.
