Two teens charged for theft on Letgo app

SALISBURY, Md. – Wicomico County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested two juveniles on Thursday on theft charges.

According to police, it was learned that individuals were using the “Letgo” app to post items for sale, and when the victim was lured to a location, the suspects would run off with the victim’s money without providing the victim with the items for sale.

An operation was then conducted by detectives, who utilized the app to make contact with the suspects. The suspects asked the detectives to meet on Glendale Drive to purchase the items. On arrival to the meeting place, detectives made contact with two juveniles matching the description of suspects stealing money from the victim. The two male juveniles, ages 16 and 17, were determined to be the suspects in this incident.

The 16-year-old was charged with theft under $1500, while the 17-year-old was charged with theft under $1500, disorderly conduct, obstructing and hindering, and failure to obey a lawful order. Both were eventually released to their parent/guardian and charges were forwarded to the Department of Juvenile Services.
