Two overnight shooting incidents under investigation in Dover

DOVER, Del. – Dover Police are investigating two shooting incidents that happened late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.

We’re told that shortly before 11:30 p.m., officers heard gunshots on the east side of Dover, possibly in the area of the Town Point community. Officers were unable to determine where exactly it happened, but approximately ten minutes later, an 18-year-old male arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to his chest and arm. Police say the victim was uncooperative with detectives and only reported that he was walking through a neighborhood when he was shot. The victim is in stable condition.

Police say the second incident happened just before 2 a.m., in the 100 block of Hampton Drive. Officers found a home that had been hit multiple times by bullets on arrival, and met with the resident, who reportedly did not call police and provided conflicting information to detectives. A witness in the neighborhood told police that they saw two male suspects, one in a red hooded sweatshirt and one in a black hooded sweatshirt, stand in front of the home, pull out a gun, and shoot several times before fleeing west on foot.

Dover Police say they cannot confirm if the incidents are related at this time, but it is part of the ongoing investigation. They are asking anyone with information on either of these incidents to call 302-736-7130 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
