Tunnel to Towers Delmarva 2020 cancelled due to pandemic

LEWES, Del. – The organizers of the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers 5K announced they’re cancelling this years event.

The annual event was set to be held on September 19th in Lewes. Stephen Siller, a New York City Firefighter, lost his life on September 11th after running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to respond to the Twin Towers. Organizers say this was a hard decision but they are already looking towards next year’s event which will honor the 20th anniversary of 9/11.

“Next year we are planning on having a golf tournament in the spring, our 5K at our new home at the Fort Miles Museum in Cape Henlopen State Park which we were supposed to debut this year but again we will have to push that off until next year and then we’re also going to have the Let Us Do Good Gala,” says Brian Brubaker, the organizer for Tunnel to Towers Delmarva.

The Tunnel to Towers event helps raise money for the Stephen Siller Tunnel To Towers Foundation which provides financial support for families of fallen first responders.
