South Dorchester 5th grader wins state competition

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – A 5th grader at South Dorchester School recently won a state competition and is now off to the national level.

SDS officials congratulated Amanda Holotik for winning first place at the American Legion Auxiliary’s Annual Americanism Essay Contact. The prompt Holotik had to answer was “how can we address the health and well-being of our veterans, military, and their families?”

Dorchester County leaders congratulated other local category winners who took home 2nd and 3rd place titles as well. Congratulations Amanda, and we wish you luck as you move on to the national competition now.
