Smitty McGee’s facing the challenges of being understaffed since reopening in June

SELBYVILLE, Del.- At the beginning of June, Smitty McGee’s Bar and Restaurant in Selbyville opened back up for outdoor dining, but now they are facing new challenges.

The restaurant said they are understaffed right now and no one is applying, which is making it tough for the employees they do have on board.

Because their employees are working too many hours, they have had to close on Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s to give them a break.

The owner told us that she never imagined the difficulties she would face after reopening.

“I never expected anything like this, you know I’ve been in this particular restaurant for 32 years, I’ve owned it for 32 years and I’ve never had a problem like this before, and I just spent money that I didn’t have,” Dawn McGee, owner of Smitty McGee’s said.

McGee said she is looking to fill all types of positions from from servers to cooks.

If you would like to apply, you can give them a call at 302-436-4716 or visit their website at
