Shots fired incident leads to numerous charges for Milton man

1280 Devante Williams

MILTON, Del. – Delaware State Police arrested a man on multiple charges Thursday evening after responding to a shots fired complaint in Milton.

We’re told that at around 5:20 p.m., troopers were called to Springside Drive for several reports of shots being fired. On arrival, it was learned that a subject, possibly 27-year-old Devante Williams, had left the scene in a silver Volkswagen Jetta.

Troopers located the vehicle in a driveway on West Springside Drive, and made contact with Williams inside the vehicle. An odor of alcohol and marijuana were detected coming from the vehicle, and a DUI investigation was launched. Several spent shotgun shell casings were also found on the ground near Williams’ vehicle.

Further investigation revealed that Williams had responded to an acquaintance’s residence on Springside Drive. He reportedly walked into the residence, appearing to be intoxicated, and pointed a gun at the 55-year-old male victim. The victim told Williams to get out of his residence, and when he did, he fired several founds outside. Neither the victim nor his residence were hit.

A computer check revealed that Williams is prohibited from possessing a firearm. He was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm if previously convicted of a violent felony, aggravated menacing, first degree reckless endangerment, possession of a firearm while under the influence, disorderly conduct, and driving a vehicle under the influence of a combination of alcohol and any drug.

He was held at SCI on $94,500 cash only bond.
