Shepherd’s Office in need of donations for yard sale fundraiser
GEORGETOWN, Del. – One organization is having a yard sale to raise money, but they need your help to make it happen.
The Shepherd’s Office serves hot, free meals to the homeless every single day, but now they’re in need of some help, so they came up with the idea of a yard sale and car wash as a fundraiser for next Saturday, June 13. But to do that, they need things to sell.
The Shepherd’s Office is asking anyone with anything they’re willing to part with to drop off any item, whether it be furniture, household goods, or whatever you’re getting rid of at the shelter so they can sell it.
Jim Martin, with the Shepherd’s Office, tells 47 ABC fundraisers like this are essential to keeping the organization running.
“We have expenses associated with just living – you know, you have things that are going on and we just need a little bit of lift up, because we’re just giving things out for free so there’s no revenue coming in at all for us,” Martin said.
Martin says if you have something you’re willing to part with, you can drop it off at the Shepherd’s office any day this week, you don’t need to call ahead. As for the car wash, it will be five dollars per car. The yard sale and car wash will start at 7 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, and Martin says it won’t end until every item is sold and every car is washed.
