Princess Anne farmers market announces grand opening celebration
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The Princess Anne community is getting ready to celebrate the grand opening of a new farmers market.
It’s part of a project called Coops to Co-Ops where organizers re-purpose abandoned chicken houses into a space for things like farmers markets and festivals. The market has been running since May but they are inviting the community out to an official ribbon cutting on Saturday, June 20th.
Organizers also partnering with the Small Farm Program at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore to educate people about health and wellness. “We have a vision together of really empowering the community of Princess Anne and students at the University to eat healthier and have access to this option,” says Emiliano Espinosa, the farmers market manager for Coops to Co-Ops.
The Farmers Market is held every Saturday, rain or shine, from 9 AM to 1 PM at 31140 Peggy Neck Road in Princess Anne. Right now they have about ten vendors but they’re in the processing of adding more.
The grand opening is Saturday, June 20th and organizers say there will be food, live music, prizes and raffles.
