Police searching for man wanted in connection with shooting

GREENWOOD, Del. – Delaware State Police are searching for a Felton man who they say shot his ex-girlfriend’s father Saturday night on Memory Road in Greenwood.

“The police were here for quite a while, complete with shot rifles and everything,” said Jim Lindenmeier.

“They secured the neighborhood and they never did locate the person that shot my neighbor,” said Lindenmeier.

Authorities say police got called to the neighborhood for a shooting around 8:30 PM.

They say when troopers arrived they discovered that 19-year-old Edward Palmer had tried looking for his ex-girlfriend who was not home at the time.

It was then that police say he was heard outside the home threatening to shoot the family’s dog and attack her father who was inside.

Palmer then fired three rounds into the home hitting his ex-girlfriend’s 42-year-old dad.

“He had been shot twice, once on the bicep and once in the hands,” said Lindenmeier.

“He said that he didn’t know exactly who the shooter was because he was shot through the wall,” said Lindenmeier.

According to Lindenmeier, the father showed up at his doorstep after he got shot afraid that Palmer might have still been around.

“It was surreal to show up on your front step and say I’ve been shot,” said Lindenmeier.

“It was nerve-wracking because he didn’t know whether or not the guy was still around,” said Lindenmeier.

Neighbors we spoke to say they heard several shots fired. They say they thought someone might have just been hunting, but after police showed up, they realized something had gone wrong.

“They were pretty loud,” said Jacob Yatuzis.

“Then I said, well, people hunt around here all the time, so I said let’s just watch the movie, but since we paused and went out to go smoke and heard the sirens and all that and all the lights,” said Yatuzis.

Delaware State Police say the victim sustained two non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and was taken to a local hospital.

Troopers have been unable to find Palmer. Police say they do not expect an immediate threat to the public as it was a targeted incident.

They say Palmer has an active warrant for first-degree assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and more.

Anyone with information on where Palmer might be are being asked to contact Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
