NAACP chapters hosting press conference to discuss moving forward
SALISBURY, Md. – Local NAACP chapters are working together to bring change to our area amid nationwide protests calling for racial justice.
On Monday the Wicomico County NAACP, the Somerset County NAACP, and the Worcester County NAACP, and the Dorchester County NAACP will host a press briefing to talk about how we move forward.
Organizers say they plan to talk about how police departments can be held accountable, a need for a citizen review board, and more.
Mary Ashanti, the President of the Wicomico County NAACP, says that it’s important to talk about what people can do once protests and marches end, and that starts with a few simple steps.
“People forget that you have to attend county council meetings to make people assured, and city council meetings and town council meetings that have towns,” Ashanti said.
The press conference will be held on Monday at 5 p.m. at 125 N. Division Street in Salisbury.
