Md. COVID-19 positivity rate drops below 10%, hospitalizations at lowest level in 50 days
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Governor Larry Hogan says that Maryland’s COVID-19 positivity rate has dropped below 10% for the first time since late March.
The state has conducted over 380,000 tests, including more than 14,000 over the last 24 hours. The state’s positivity rate peaked on April 17th, when it reached 26.91%. As of today, it is down to 9.5% statewide.
He also says that current hospitalizations have fallen to their lowest level since April 14th. Total COVID-19 hospitalizations, which are one of the state’s key recovery metrics, have dropped to 1,109, which is their lowest level since April 14th. There are currently 471 ICU beds in use for COVID-19 patients, the lowest number since April 17th, and the number of patients in acute care is at 638, the lowest number since April 12th.
