UPDATE: Head-on crash claims life of Md. woman in Dover, victim identified

DOVER, Del. – Delaware State Police say a crash in Dover Tuesday night left one dead and another with serious injuries.

Just after 10 p.m., a 2016 Mazda 3 was traveling northbound in the southbound left lane of Bay Road, south of exit 92, approaching a 2011 Nissan Murano that was traveling southbound in the left lane. The Mazda hit the Nissan head-on in the left travel lane.

The driver of the Mazda, identified as 35-year-old Caprice Johnson of Perryville, MD was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say she was properly restrained at the time of the crash. Her name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the Nissan, a 39-year-old Manheim, PA woman, was also properly restrained. She was taken to Christiana Hospital in serious condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
