Great White Shark spotted off coast of Ocean City
OCEAN CITY, Md. – A video of a Great White Shark spotted off the coast of Ocean City on Monday is going viral on social media.
Bunky McAllister posted a short video clip of the moment on Facebook on Tuesday afternoon with a caption reading, “Offshore OC yesterday shark tagging on the Fish Finder when a white shark swam thru the baits!!”
In the video, the shark is seen swimming right alongside the boat and people on the boat can be heard saying, “Oh my gosh! That’s a big female!” At one point, some of the people on the boat try to lure the shark with bait to get a better look at it and the shark breaches the water.
There’s also a three minute long YouTube video of the same moment from a different angle. In that video, the people on the boat can be heard marveling at how big the shark is and trying to guess how long it is. According to Fish In OC, the shark was estimated to be 16 to 18 feet in length and weighing 2,000 to 3,000 pounds. It was not immediately clear exactly how far the shark was off the coast.
