Former Wico. Councilman passes away

UPDATE: Funeral arrangements have been announced for Edward T. Taylor.

The viewing will be Saturday, June 6 from 5-8pm, at Holloway Funeral Home.

There will be another viewing, Sunday, June 7, 2020 10:00 -11:00 followed by funeral service at 11:00, Holloway Funeral Home, 501 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury, 21804.


SALISBURY, Md. – The Wicomico County community is grieving after losing a local war hero, educator and county councilman over the weekend.

Edward T. Taylor passed away Saturday evening surrounded by family. He was 88 years old.

Taylor was born in Wetipquin, Md. on Feb. 27, 1932 and attended high school in nearby Salisbury, Md.

Taylor would go on to serve in the Korean War as a combat infantry soldier, earning two bronze stars for outstanding combat action.

When he came home, Taylor enrolled at Bowie State College where he earned a bachelor’s degree in education. He would later earn a master’s degree in education administration for Salisbury State College.

Taylor would put his education to good use, spending 35 years in the field of public education. First as an elementary school teacher, then middle school guidance counselor, and eventually a high school vice-principal.

After retiring from education, Taylor put his work towards serving his community again, this time as Wicomico County Councilman. Taylor served three consecutive terms, starting in 1994 and concluding in 2006.
