Fake shooting call in Salisbury under investigation

SALISBURY, Md. – The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after they received a false shooting call Wednesday afternoon.

Deputies say that shortly after 3 p.m. they received a call from a subject who reported that he had just shot a family member and was planning on shooting others at a residence in the 6000 block of Rockawalkin Road. This caused a substantial response from the Sheriff’s Office.

Following an initial investigation, the call was determined to be fake. It is believed that the call was made to get the attention of a subject featured in a Facebook post from 2015 that has resurfaced on the internet. In this post, a subject is seen standing on the American Flag while burning another one.

Police say the post lists this address as where the subject lives, however the individuals who do reside at this address have no connection to the pictured subject.

The incident remains under investigation.
