Ellendale man arrested on 5th DUI
ELLENDALE, Del. – Delaware State Police arrested an Ellendale man on DUI and other charges following a single vehicle crash Sunday night.
Troopers responded to a residence in the 12000 block of Dupont Boulevard just before 9:30 p.m. for a reported crash. On arrival, troopers learned that a white Ford pickup truck had driven off the roadway and onto the lawn of the residence, where it hit a standing tree and two wooden poles.
Troopers say the driver, 38-year-old Patrick Carey, appeared to be confused. A DUI investigation was launched, and a computer check revealed that Carey had four prior DUI arrests. He was also found in possession of drug paraphernalia at the time of the incident.
He was subsequently arrested and charged with 5th offense DUI, driving while suspended or revoked, failure to have insurance identification in possession, failure to provide information at collision scene resulting in property damage, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Carey was held at SCI on $6,201 cash only bond.
