Del. health officials announce 55 new COVID-19 cases, 5 new deaths

SMYRNA, Del. – The Delaware Division of Public Health says there are five new deaths related to the coronavirus in the state.

We’re told that the most recent deaths involved four New Castle County residents and one Sussex County resident. They ranged in age from 74 to 98, and all reportedly had underlying health conditions. To date, 431 Delawareans have died from complications of the virus.

Officials say there are an additional 55 cases in the state, bringing the total number of cases to 10,499. Sussex County has seen a total of 4,431 cases, while Kent has seen 1,584, and 4,470 have been in New Castle County. 79 individuals are currently hospitalized, 17 of whom are critically ill.

A total of 6,350 Delawareans have made a full recovery from the virus.
