Chamber of Commerce unveils “Love, Lewes” marketing campaign
LEWES, Del. – The Lewes Chamber of Commerce unveiled a new marketing campaign to help restart the local economy called “Love, Lewes”.
It was created after the chamber met with countless local businesses to get feedback on how they’ve been impacted by COVID-19 and how they want to move forward. A Hospitality Ambassador Program is also part of the campaign and it involves having volunteers walk around town informing people about restrictions based on what phase the state is in with the goal of making visitors feel welcome.
“Our businesses have been shut down for some of them almost three months and we know the public is hesitant to come out again and be in public places,” says Betsy Reamer, the executive director of the Lewes Chamber of Commerce.
Local stores will also be able to use the “Love, Lewes” branding on merchandise to help create another stream of revenue. Reamer says 20 to 30 members of the American Legion Auxiliary are volunteering for the ambassador program and students at Cape Henlopen High School are helping manage the social media accounts to market the campaign.
