Brandywine Valley SPCA participating in cat adoption event
GEORGETOWN, Del. – June marks National Adopt a Cat Month and some shelters on Delmarva are making sure some very cute four-legged friends find their forever homes.
Starting on June 15, the Brandywine Valley SPCA will take part in Swiffer’s Adoption Sweep, where cats and kittens at the shelter’s Dover location will have lower adoption fees.
Carla DiGiacomo, with the Brandywine Valley SPCA, tells 47 ABC this is the perfect time to bring a cat home to your family as many people are still working from home during the pandemic.
DiGiacomo adds that, even when people go back to work, cats can be great, independent pets.
“The nice thing about cats particularly is it is a nice choice for people that, once they do start going back to work, cats are a little bit more independent and they can stay home by themselves a little bit longer,” she said.
The Swiffers Adoption Sweep event lasts from June 15 until June 21. DiGiacomo also tells 47 ABC that the shelter is in need of fosters for kittens right now, so if you’re interested in fostering or adopting a cute little cat, you can contact the shelter to fill out an application.
