Fruitland Little League will resume play on home fields after special vote

FRUITLAND, Md. –  The Fruitland City Council voted 4-0 Monday during a special meeting to allow for baseball games to be played on city fields as long as participants adhere to safety guidelines and distancing.

Fruitland Little League posted about the vote on their Facebook page saying that their first scheduled development scrimmage is planned for Friday and that they “could not be more excited to have the game back on our fields!!.”

They also said to stay tuned for some more exciting news about the things they have planned for this Summer and Fall and that they are working to make this the best baseball season yet.

As  47 ABC reported last week the council had previously voted to not allow for a tournament to be played on city fields this past weekend. Fruitland Little League said because of that they lost anywhere between $3,000 to $4,000 in concession sales. Money that was desperately needed for a Little League that has struggled financially during the pandemic.
