10 rescued sea turtles released at Assateague

BERLIN, Md. – Last week, 10 rescued sea turtles were returned to their home, bringing the National Aquarium to a significant milestone.

The ten turtles, including six greens and four kemp’s ridleys, were released at Assateague State Park last Thursday. One of the sea turtles of the aquarium’s 300th successful release since their rescue program began in 1991.

The aquarium says three turtles remain in their care, along with a grey seal named Pippi Longstocking.
