We go geological on this Weather Tidbits, as earthquakes are checked out. An earthquake happens when two blocks of the earth’s crust slip past one another creating an intense shaking of the surface. Earthquakes occur along faults where tectonic plates move and stress the Earth’s crust. They are 3 types of faults that lead to earthquakes, a normal fault, a reverse fault, and a strike-slip fault.
