Two men arrested in connection to Selbyville robbery
SELBYVILLE, Del. – Delaware State Police say they have arrested two men in connection to a robbery that left a man hospitalized late last month.
The incident happened shortly after 10 p.m. on April 24th. The male victim and a female acquaintance told police that they were in the area of Washington Avenue and Polly Branch Road when they were approached by two male suspects who had their faces concealed with cloth coverings. The suspects reportedly demanded money from both subjects and hit the male victim in the head and face with a handgun.
The female then handed over an unknown amount of money, and the suspects fled the area on foot. The female victim, who was not injured, took the male victim to an area hospital where he was admitted for treatment of serious injuries.
Further investigation revealed that the incident took place in the parking lot at the Hickory Tree Apartment complex in Selbyville. Police developed 22-year-old Ryan Crowson and 22-year-old Tanner McElwee as suspects. Crowson was taken into custody on Monday at the Georgetown DMV without incident, while McElwee was taken into custody near his residence in the unit block of Tributary Lane in Millville.
Police were able to recover the handgun used in the incident during a search of Crowson and McElwee’s residence.
Crowson was charged with first degree robbery and second degree conspiracy, and was held at SCI on $22,000 secured bond.
McElwee was charged with first degree robbery, first degree assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, aggravated menacing, and second degree conspiracy. He was held at SCI on $75,000 cash only bond.
