Shooting incident injures one, investigation underway
DOVER, Del. – Dover Police are investigating a shooting they say left one with a gunshot wound to the head Sunday night.
At around 8:40 p.m., officers were called to the 100 block of Willis Road for a report of shots fired. While responding, officers were flagged down by a vehicle that was taking the 18-year-old female victim to the hospital. Officers escorted the vehicle to the hospital and stayed with the victim while she was treated for her injury.
The driver told police that they were in the area when two males began firing at his car, ultimately hitting the female victim in the head. The vehicle was hit by gunfire approximately 14 times in the driver side, and an occupied home in the area was also hit, however none of the occupants were injured. Additional officers responded to the scene and found several shell casings in the area.
The 18-year-old female victim is reportedly in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery from her injuries.
