Seaford Police arrest two on drug, weapons charges

SEAFORD, Del. – Police arrested two men early Friday morning on multiple drug and weapons charges.

Shortly before 1:30 a.m., officers responded to Meadowbridge Apartments for a report of suspicious activity. On arrival, officers found a white Buick parked in a fire lane, and made contact with the occupants, 18-year-old Myles Andrews and 24-year-old Deshawn Reed. An odor of marijuana was detected inside the vehicle on contact with the occupants.

During the investigation, Andrews reportedly fled on foot, but was apprehended a short time later after a brief struggle. Reed was taken into custody at the scene.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a loaded handgun, various amounts of ammunition for the handgun and a rifle, 5 grams of marijuana, and 26 baggies of suspected heroin.

Andrews was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, resisting arrest with force or violence, second degree conspiracy, possession of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct, and possession of personal use marijuana. He was released on his own recognizance.

Reed was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, resisting arrest with force or violence, second degree conspiracy, possession of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of personal use marijuana, and parked in a fire lane. He was held on $25,602 cash bail.
