Open for Business: Mogan’s Oyster House impacted by COVID-19 pandemic

SALISBURY, Md. – Businesses like Mogan’s Oyster House in Salisbury have been significantly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
“The challenge is obviously shifting the model from doing almost exclusively in-restaurant dining to become a takeout restaurant essentially,” said Brad Mogan, general manager at Mogan’s Oyster House.
The team here says dining-in has been a critical part of their business.
But because of the pandemic, they’ve had to come up with different creative ideas that will help keep their business going.
“So, we’ve kind of pivoted to all the different thoughts like what kind of to-go containers are we using, really getting down to the menu items, what’s going to carry out well, what’s going to deliver the kind of Mogan’s Oyster House experience that we want people to have,” said Mogan.
They say they’re also depending on getting their products online to stay afloat.
And although they’ve only been open for less than a year they’re grateful for the support they’ve gotten from the community during this difficult time.
“The support from the community has been amazing and the feedback that we’ve heard from people is just very reassuring and we feel blessed,” said Kateryna Mogan, co-owner of Mogan’s Oyster House.
Mogan’s Oyster House says they’re also planning on getting more of their staff back to work during the next couple of weeks.
They’re also working on figuring out how they’ll be able to safely reopen their doors to the public again in the future.
